New Waste Education Centre

Thursday 18 June 2020
The new building at the Albury Waste Management Centre (AWMC) has been completed and the first students will attend in July.

The SMART centre (sustainable management and resource training) is a dedicated space for waste and recycling education, catering to all age groups, including school children.

It will also allow Halve Waste education officers to be based at the AWMC, which is leading the way as the region works toward reducing the amount of waste we bury in landfill by half.

Workshops and other activities will be held at the centre to increase the community’s knowledge of waste diversion activities, with a focus on the best ways to reuse and recycle.

The new centre will also provide a hub to expand upon the tours and education programs offered at the AWMC.

By helping to ensure the AWMC remains at the forefront of waste management innovation, our education officers will be able to work with people of all ages to make recycling their “new normal”.
