LSG provides a versitile state-of-the-art facility for a wide range of sports and sporting leagues including NRL, AFL, cricket, netball, football, cycling and touch football.

Versatile facilities to suit your event needs

Facilities available at the Lavington Sports Ground include:
  • Two full-size oval playing arenas for sports such as cricket and AFL, or three rectangular fields which can be activated simultaneously to host codes such as soccer, rugby league, rugby union, and touch football. Suitable also for group training sessions (gyms and other sporting codes)
  • Tiered seating on the Pearsall Street side for 12,000 people
  • Netball court
  • Lighting on the main field to 500 lux and to 200 lux on the second field
  • Electronic scoreboard (25sqm) capable of running advertising during game
  • A smaller electronic scoreboard (14sqm) on Ground 2
  • Coaches’ benches and undercover on-ground team seating
  • Two further kiosk facilities
  • A cycling velodrome with lighting, surrounding a practice netball court

    LSG is home to the Lavington Panthers football club with junior and senior teams using the ground for training and home games, with exclusive use of the original clubrooms. The ground has hosted many local AFL stars on their rise to national fame including John Longmire, Hamish McIntosh, Michael Gibbons, Jack Ziebell, Brett Kirk, Anthony Miles, Justin Koschitzke, Zach Sproule, Alyce Parker and Olivia Barber.

    The venue has two full-sized AFL fields and facilities to host anything from junior carnivals to full AFL fixture matches.

    LSG is an institution for the game of AFL, being the home to most Ovens and Murray grand finals since 1981 and every Grand Final from 1995 to 2017.

    LSG has hosted many AFL matches from the early 90s including a match between Carlton and Essendon in front of 20,169 fans in 1995.

    The venue can be booked for exclusive use for football carnivals, clinics and matches at community, school and elite level.  The facility has audio-visual capabilities to deliver educational and coaching workshops and game reviews in the function room.

    LSG has amazing facilities for cricket, boasting two full sized fields with turf wickets and seven practice nets (four synthetic and three turf).  It is home to the Lavington Panthers Cricket Club, with both seniors and junior teams training and hosting home games at the ground.  In 2016-117, LSG hosted a WBBL competition match and BBL practice between Melbourne Stars and Sydney Thunder, attracting a crowds of up to 10,000.

    LSG is a perfect venue for league carnivals and matches and is equipped host three full-sized rugby league fields with facilities to accommodate players and fans. The venue has hosted a range of NRL games in the past, including Manley Sea Eagles v Canberra Raiders in 2015 and City v Country in 2011. Rugby League is popular in our community, with local club Albury Thunder fostering junior players and raising the profile of the sport in our city and surrounding regions.

    The venue can be booked for exclusive use for rugby league carnivals, clinics and matches at a community and commercial level.

    Home to the Lavington Panthers netball club, facilitating netball at all levels. The facility currently houses two netball courts with upgrades planned to commence in 2021. The venue can be booked for exclusive use for netball carnivals, clinics and matches at a community and elite level.

    LSG has capacity for three full-size football pitches and a host of facilities to support community or elite level football events.

    In 2014 LSG hosted the A-League match between Melbourne Heart and Perth Glory, as well as an FFA cup game.

    The venue can be booked for exclusive use for football carnivals, clinics and matches at a community and elite level.

    LSG has the only velodrome in the region and is home to the Lavington Panthers Cycling Club. The velodrome is available for community, commercial or individual use. If you would like to use the facility, please contact us via the booking form.

    LSG has the ability to house six full-size and seven junior touch football fields.  This, combined with the new facilities and supporting community accommodation and access, makes it one of the best regional venues to host touch football carnivals at all levels.

    The venue can be booked for exclusive use for touch football carnivals, clinics and matches at a community and commercial and elite level.
