Fredericks Park upgrade

This project will expand the play area and play opportunities for children of all ages.

The Fredericks Park Master Plan was endorsed by Council in April 2020. The master plan includes upgrading the play space with the following elements.

  • Bicycle Education Track – a new designated space for children learning to ride, with signage lights, intersections and challenges;
  • Scooter & Bicycle Skills and Play – to allow children to explore and improve a mix of skills including bumps, slopes, varied surfaces and skate elements;
  • Outdoor Fitness Zonewill include a range of static outdoor strength and conditioning equipment;
  • Nature Play Area – to be constructed around the turtle sculpture and include new garden beds, stepping stones, and mini bamboo forest;
  • Kick Around  Grass Area – a flat area of irrigated lawn for informal ball sports;
  • Junior and Toddler Play Areas – new age-appropriate play areas for smaller children;
  • Enhanced Plantings and Landscaping – extension of plantings, seating and pathways.
  • Outdoor Basketball Area

A three stage construction program is included in the master plan.

Funding was allocated in the 2022-23 budget to complete the detailed design for all three play space stages while construction funding for stage one has been allocated in 2023-24).

Grant funding has been obtained for the project through Federal Government Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Fund ($766K). This will allow the three stages of the play space to be constructed together.
