The process used to select successful applicants is as follows:
1 - Your Application
AlburyCity uses a Merit based process to assess all applications.
Your success in obtaining an interview is based on how well your experience, qualifications, skills and knowledge meet the specific requirements of the advertised position.
Your application needs to contain the following:

Your covering letter should highlight your qualifications, skills and experience as to why you believe you are the best applicant for the position.

Your resume should outline your education/qualifications, employment history and interests. As your application will be one of many read by the selection committee, it needs to be clear, concise and highlight your capabilities and experience.

It is recommended that your cover letter and resume is compatible with Microsoft Word or is in PDF format. Applicants wanting further information on the position are strongly encouraged to contact the hiring manager for the position. The contact information for the hiring manger is found at the bottom under “Position Contact”
If you are unable to apply via our online platform, we encourage you to contact the Hiring Manager listed on the advertisement to arrange an alternate application format.
2 - Short Listing
This involves reviewing all applications and determining which candidates will be progressed to interview stage.
An applicant may meet the key aspects of the position and yet, not be selected for an interview. This usually occurs when there are large numbers of applicants, some of whom meet the critical elements on a more competitive basis.
Child Related Positions: if the position is in child-related work, it will be stated on the position description. Successful applicants for child related work must obtain a 'Working with Children Check' clearance prior to commencing work with AlburyCity.
Police Check: if the position is designated as requiring an Australian National Police Check, it will be stated on the Position Description. Applicants for these positions must obtain a Australian National Police Check prior to commencing work with AlburyCity.
AlburyCity endeavours to complete the shortlisting process within 7-10 working days of the advertised closing date.
Applicants that are successful in progressing to the interview stage will be contacted by phone and/or email to arrange a suitable interview time.
Unsuccessful applicants with be notified via email.
3 - The Interview
The interview will be conducted by a panel of either 2, 3 or 4 panel members, and consist of structured behavioural based questions. The panel will take notes during the interview.
Interview questions can be provided to you prior to your interview at AlburyCity’s discretion.

4 - Next Steps in the Selection Process
As part of the selection process the following assessments may be conducted by an external provider following the interview:
- Reference Checks
- Medical and Audio Examination
- Educational Qualifications
- Drug and Alcohol Screening
- Behavioural Assessment
- Physical Functional Assessment
- Criminal Records Check
- Working with Children Check
- Eligibility to work in Australia (Visa verification)
- Compliance Documentation Collection
Following positive confirmation from the relevant assessments and collection of required compliance documentation a formal offer of employment will be issued.
5 - Recruitment Timeframes
Advertising – Minimum of 2 weeks although role may close earlier for the right applicant.
Shortlisting – 7-10 working days – from closing date
Interviews – 2 weeks from closing date
Formal offer of employment – 3-5 weeks from closing date*
