With our advocacy, there is now a united regional voice for the development of a new single-site greenfield hospital in a suitable location.
On Monday night, Cr Geoff Hudson successfully moved a multi-part motion which, in summary, affirms the stance of AlburyCity that this is the best, indeed the only, option that should be considered for the redevelopment of our hospital.
The resolution also:
- Expresses our view that the current planned redevelopment is inadequate
- Calls for a pause on the current redevelopment plans and a redirection of efforts towards a single-site hospital
- Seeks assurances from the Victorian and NSW governments that the $558 million already promised will not be jeopardy
- Reaffirms Council’s calls for interim solutions such as modular wards and theatres to address the current lack of beds.

This is great news for our community. I’m very pleased that as a Council we’ve reached a position that reflects the views not only of the local medical community, but also of the wider community of Albury-Wodonga and beyond.
