AlburyCity has announced that Council’s Kiewa Street Carpark will be closed until further notice from 6pm on Thursday 20 February while further investigations are undertaken into concrete cracking in the building structure.
Council staff recently engaged consulting structural engineers to investigate concrete cracking that was identified in the building structure through a maintenance inspection.
Andrew Lawson, Service Leader City Projects at AlburyCity, said that Council has received advice that the integrity of the structure requires further investigation to determine causes and any potential remediation works.
“As a precautionary measure to ensure public safety, the structural engineers have advised that the carpark should be closed while these investigations take place,” said Mr Lawson.
“We’re closing the carpark to all pedestrian and vehicle access from 6pm Thursday 20 February until further notice.
“We will provide regular updates to the community via social media and the AlburyCity website as further information becomes available.”
Mr Lawson said alternate all-day carparking can be found at Council carparks in Volt Lane and Wilson Street. Other all-day parking can be found at Myer Centrepoint, Westend Plaza and the SS&A Club.
