AlburyCity welcomes funding for hospital redevelopment

Friday 28 October 2022

AlburyCity welcomes the announcement from NSW Premier Dominic Perrottet and Victorian Premier Dan Andrews of a $558m commitment from the NSW and Victorian Governments for the redevelopment of the Albury Base Hospital.

A great deal of work has been undertaken by AlburyCity and Wodonga councils, local health services and the community to advocate for better health services for our region, and we are pleased to see our hard work paying off.

This redevelopment will allow for the more timely delivery of improved health facilities and services for the Albury Wodonga community, as well as our wider region of Southern NSW and North East Victoria which consists of over 250,000 people.

We acknowledge that both the existing Albury Base Hospital and Wodonga Hospital must continue to operate throughout the construction works and we will work with Albury Wodonga Health to ensure a smooth transition experience for our community.

Once the hospital services currently being delivered at the Wodonga campus have been transferred to the Albury campus, we will work with our community and Albury Wodonga Health to redevelop the Wodonga campus into a facility that will meet the needs of the regional community.

Under the Two Cities One Community Partnership, we will continue to work in support of Albury Wodonga, the State and Federal Governments, Albury Wodonga Health and our community, to advocate for improved health services for our region.
