Works to improve Urana Road

Thursday 10 September 2020
Major works to redevelop Urana Road at Lavington will be largely carried out on weekends to minimise disruption to road users and residents.

The works will take place between Buchhorn Street and Heathwood Avenue on 24 to 27 September, and 2 to 4 October.

Traffic from Breen, Buchhorn & Heathwood will be detoured around the work site, and traffic along Urana Road will under traffic control and motorists should expect delays.

The project will include:

  • Kerb and gutter, and footpath and driveway repairs (already commenced)
  • Removal and replacement of existing elm trees
  • Removal of the asphalt surface and spray seal
  • New asphalt surfacing, and
  • New line-marking

Our horticultural team will remove five ageing elm trees from the road shoulder at 389, 393, 399, 408 and 412 Urana Road.

The trees must be removed because they’re in poor health and have structural problems.

They’ll be replaced with advanced London plane trees to match the existing theme along the road.

Council teams will work to minimise disruption to residents but some construction noise will occur. We’re grateful to residents for their co-operation as we work towards delivering a better road.

Residents in the area have been advised of the plans in a letter.
