Council responds to government orders

Wednesday 25 March 2020
AlburyCity has closed more facilities, in line with new Federal Government requirements aimed at slowing the spread of Covid-19.

From today, the following facilities will be closed until further notice:

  • Retro Lane Café
  • Mirambeena Community Centre
  • Glenecho Community Centre
  • Albury Swim Centre
  • Lavington Swim Centre
  • Lavington Library
  • LibraryMuseum
  • Home library service
  • Visitor Information Centre

From close of business on Friday, our Customer Service Centre in our Kiewa Street offices will be closed to face-to-face contact. However, our team will still be available to assist the community via phone, email and website inquiries.

AlburyCity’s number one priority is the safety of our people and community so these closures, while regrettable, are necessary to keep us all as safe as possible as the outbreak continues.

The government’s new requirements will also affect weddings at the Botanic Gardens and Wonga Wetlands, as well as funerals at Glenmorus Gardens. Restrictions on the number of people able to attend these events under social distancing rules will apply.

Our libraries will continue to provide online books, audio books, information resources, magazines and films. Additional online resources/books are currently being purchased to ensure we cover demand.

For more information and the full list of closures and postponements read our COVID-19 response.

We’ll continue to keep our community updated as the situation develops.
