Free event connects author, readers

Wednesday 19 February 2020
The Albury LibraryMuseum will host award-winning author Meredith Lake on Friday as part of a state-wide program, Going Places – Authors on Tour, run by the State Library of NSW and supported by the Copyright Agency’s Cultural Fund.

At this free event, Meredith will talk about her latest book, The Bible in Australia: A Cultural History, which won the Australian History Prize at the 2019 NSW Premier’s History Awards.

Meredith’s study explores how the Bible is interwoven with the diversity and complexity of Australian life and, according to the history awards judging panel, is a highly accessible book that introduces readers to a fresh cast of characters.

AlburyCity’s Write Around the Murray Festival Director, Ann-maree Ellis, urged anyone interested in local or Australian history to attend.

“This is a great initiative connecting Australia’s leading writers with our local community,” she said.

The event, to be held on 21 February at 5.30 pm, is being presented by the LibraryMuseum and Write Around the Murray.

Refreshments, including a cash bar available before the talk, and Meredith’s book will be for sale at the event.
