A popular deciduous tree for urban backyards that now boasts many cultivars with different plant growth characteristics. It is a relatively fast growing, hardy tree with beautiful white blossoms in early spring and colourful foliage in autumn. This species does not bear edible fruit. This is a very versatile shade tree in summer and tolerates local conditions well.
