Albury Entertainment Centre Convention Wing Redevelopment
We’re undertaking a major redevelopment of the Albury Entertainment Centre (AEC) Convention Wing to create a leading regional events, conference and function venue.
About the Project
The Convention Wing, first opened in 1972 and last upgraded in 1993, requires a significant upgrade to meet modern conference and exhibition standards. The redevelopment will deliver a contemporary, expanded and flexible venue, doubling capacity to 2,000 delegates and accommodating large-scale conferences, exhibitions and business events, while attracting visitors and generating economic benefit for the community.
The project will also strengthen connections across the Cultural Precinct, improving integration with QEII Square, Murray Art Museum Albury (MAMA), the Albury LibraryMuseum, and surrounding retail and hospitality.
Planning has been undertaken over several years, including feasibility work and community engagement that informed the endorsed concept design and guiding principles.
Development consent for the project was granted by the Southern Regional Planning Panel. Detailed design was completed by Peddle Thorp and Hames Sharley.
The project is supported by $10 million from the Australian Government as part of its $80 million investment in the Albury Wodonga Regional Projects, and $15 million from the NSW Government, with the balance funded by AlburyCity, reflecting strong partnership across all levels of government.

Project updates
May 2026
The community will notice some changes in QEII Square from Tuesday 5 May as site preparations commence for the Albury Entertainment Centre Convention Wing redevelopment.
Initial preparations include the relocation of the Albury Entertainment Centre’s Customer Service and Box Office to the base of the stairs in front of the nearby theatre. This will be followed by the establishment of construction site offices, ahead of demolition works scheduled to begin in June.
During construction, portions of QEII Square will be temporarily closed. Pedestrian access to the square will be maintained, with clearly signposted pathway detours in place to ensure safe and easy navigation.
The project is anticipated to be completed in early 2028, with further updates provided as works progress.
February 2026
AlburyCity has accepted a construction tender from Zauner Construction Pty Ltd for the Convention Wing redevelopment at the Albury Entertainment Centre, allowing the project to move into the construction phase.
Construction is scheduled to begin in April 2026, and expected to continue through to 2028, with further updates provided as works progress.
