Join Albury Libraries for free and borrow books, magazines, eBooks, CDs, DVDs and more.

How to join

Library membership is free. You can join online or in person at Albury LibraryMuseum or Lavington Library.

Join online

To join online, you must live within 100 km of the Albury local government area.

After joining online, visit Albury LibraryMuseum or Lavington Library within 30 days to verify your identity and receive your library membership card. If you don't visit within 30 days, your membership will expire.

You'll receive an email with your temporary member number and password. You can also print the acknowledgement page for a record of your membership details.

Join in person

You can also join at Albury LibraryMuseum or Lavington Library. Bring proof of identity and your current residential address.

Accepted documents include a driver's licence, bank statement, rates notice or utilities notice showing your current residential address.

Members under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian who can provide proof of address when collecting the library card.

Membership benefits

As a library member, you can:

  • borrow fiction and non-fiction books, large-print books, audiobooks, eBooks, music CDs, DVDs and more
  • access facilities at Albury LibraryMuseum and Lavington Library
  • access the elibrary
  • request items from other libraries (fees may apply)
  • transfer loans between our branches for free
  • reserve items for free
  • search, reserve and renew loans online
  • use a library computer for up to one hour a day and access free Wi-Fi
  • borrow from other participating libraries through the State Library of NSW
  • access State Library of NSW online resources.

Loans will be automatically renewed on their due date unless the item has been reserved by another borrower or has already reached the maximum number of renewals.
