Access accredited water and wastewater sampling and testing services for drinking water, groundwater, effluent, trade waste and environmental water.

Water and wastewater testing

Waterview Laboratory provides sampling and analytical testing services to clients across southern NSW and north-east Victoria.

Our clients include:

  • local councils
  • engineering and environmental consultants
  • education providers
  • private businesses and industries
  • property owners requiring water-quality testing.

Samples we can test

The laboratory can test samples including:

  • drinking and potable water
  • groundwater and bore water
  • irrigation and stock water
  • rivers, streams, lagoons and billabongs
  • recycled water
  • wastewater and sewage
  • treated effluent
  • liquid trade waste.

Available testing

Testing available within the laboratory’s accredited scope includes:

  • microbiological testing, including E. coli and coliforms
  • nutrients, including nitrogen and phosphorus
  • metals and elements
  • pH, alkalinity and conductivity
  • turbidity and colour
  • suspended and dissolved solids
  • biochemical and chemical oxygen demand
  • chloride, fluoride, nitrate, phosphate and sulfate.

Not every test applies to every sample type. Contact the laboratory before collecting your sample so staff can confirm the appropriate tests, sample containers and collection requirements.

Waterview Laboratory is accredited by NATA for environmental testing and sample collection under ISO/IEC 17025.

Accreditation applies only to the tests and services included within the laboratory’s current scope of accreditation.

Arrange testing

Contact the laboratory before taking your sample. Staff will help you determine:

  • which tests are suitable
  • how and when the sample should be collected
  • the correct sample bottles and preservatives
  • storage and transport requirements
  • applicable fees
  • the expected turnaround time.

Appropriately prepared sample bottles can be supplied to customers undertaking their own sampling.

Laboratory staff can collect samples from reticulated systems, tanks, streams, boreholes, lagoons and billabongs using approved methods.

The standard turnaround time is 10 working days from the collection or receipt of samples.

Priority processing may be available by arrangement and will incur an additional cost.
