Mirambeena Community Centre

The Mirambeena Community Centre offers a range of activities including craft, exercise and cooking classes and large events on an annual basis.

Mirambeena, an Aboriginal word that means ‘welcome’, was officially opened in August 2003.  It was established with a focus on developing community spirit and fostering partnerships through the provision of services to people of all ages, abilities and backgrounds ranging from lessons in arts and crafts to supporting local charities, disability services and large annual & multicultural events. Over the years Mirambeena has made a significant difference in assisting and encouraging the growth of our culturally diverse community.

We offer a range of programs and activities, including:

  • Adult crafts and activities
  • Embroidery and sewing
  • Guitar lessons
  • Weekly Seniors Dancing
  • Gentle Exercise
  • Cooking programs
  • Multicultural lunches
  • Foodshare market days
  • Cards and Indoor bowls
  • Alcoholics Anonymous support groups
  • Computer tutoring by appointment

We also provide bookings for casual or regular room hire and private functions.  The following rooms are available:

  • a commercial kitchen including coolroom
  • a standard kitchen
  • one large hall (250 person seating capacity)
  • one activity room (39 person seating capacity)
  • one meeting room (25 person seating capacity)
  • one computer room  (3 person seating capacity)

Note: We are currently operating on reduced seating capacities due to Covid-19 restrictions.  

Services and support offered at Mirambeena:
  • Emergency food relief – fresh and non-perishable food is available for people experiencing financial distress.  Foodshare market days are generally held fortnightly.
  • Kitchen facilities – commercial kitchen facilities are available for external services or hire for private functions
  • Showering facilities – available to vulnerable & disadvantaged community members
  • Book swap – Take a book to read and learn. You can stay at the Centre, make a cuppa and enjoy our little reading corner or take the book home.
  • Public computer access and printing services. If you need access to internet or printing forms or even printing your resume. Access to Facebook to connect with friends and family.

The Centre is a council owned and managed facility. A Coordinator is employed on a part-time basis from Monday to Friday.
