You know what a selfie is, but have you heard of a shelfie?!

You know what a selfie is, but have you heard of a shelfie? The fourth Wednesday in January offers a unique opportunity for book lovers on Library Shelfie Day.

Library Shelfies gives all booklovers the  opportunity to express their reading preferences through a single photograph. Whether they frame their favourite authors, titles, genres or cover art, readers can share a bit of their library in a creative way.

History of Library Shelfie Day

Library Shelfie Day was initiated by the New York Public Library in 2014, and the day has since become an international tradition. People are encouraged to take pictures at the library, often selfies, as a way of showing their love for books.

How to Observe #LibraryShelfieDay

To celebrate Library Shelfie Day, you're encouraged to go to your local library, or your bookshelf at home, and snap a picture of yourself in front of the shelves. Maybe it's a selfie with your face in it, or maybe it's just a picture of a bookshelf in the library, either way don’t forget to share your bookshelf selfie on social media with the hashtag #LibraryShelfieDay.
