Address by Leanne Smith, director of the Whitlam Institute
Gough Whitlam’s government passed a record number of bills into law, enacting reform in nearly every field during a tumultuous period that ended dramatically with Australia’s first and only dismissal of a Prime Minister by the Governor-General. Whitlam’s government was responsible for shaping much of the institutional, legislative and cultural foundation of modern Australia.
Discover how the Whitlam Institute is continuing his vision for a more ‘equal, open, tolerant and independent Australia’ by delivering policy research and programs that promote common ground, inclusive national identity and civic engagement for all Australians.
