Author event with Anne Hutchinson

Private CRL Smith provides a glimpse into a young Henty man's experience on the frontline in the First World War.

Join author Anne Hutchinson as she discusses the WWI experience of Private CRL Smith, a boy from Henty.

Private CRL Smith provides a glimpse into a private’s experience on the frontline. It is based on the war diary of Private Charles Robert Lumsden Smith, and the diary extracts are set chronologically within the broader story of the war. Extracts from AIF Battalion, Brigade and Division War diaries add detail of the battles and day-to-day life on the front and battle maps visually depict troop movements.

It is the story of one man, amongst the hundreds of thousands of young Australians, who fought in a war that changed the face of Europe and spawned the nationalism that set the foundations for the next world war.

This book is as much about the times in which they lived as it is about them.

Book sales will be available on the night.
