The Crematorium

Every cremation at Glenmorus is carried out on-site by our dedicated team.

Since our first cremation on 22 March 1971, every person entrusted to us has been respectfully brought through our chapel before cremation, regardless of the service option chosen. This reflects our longstanding commitment to dignity, respect and compassionate care.

We pride ourselves on providing a timely service, with cremations typically taking place on the day of the funeral service or the next business day.

Cremated remains (the Ashes) are available the next business day for collection or memorial placement.

Ashes are returned in a complimentary temporary container, or families may choose from our range of quality specialist urns and containers.

Full Chapel Service

Time and space to come together

A Full Chapel Service gives family and friends the opportunity to gather in our chapel to remember, reflect and say farewell before the cremation.

The chapel provides a welcoming and peaceful setting, with opportunities to personalise the service through music, photographs, readings and other tributes that celebrate the life of your loved one.  The chapel is an excellent alternative to the traditional church or busy funeral home setting.  It looks out to the serene, manicured memorial gardens and native bush of the surrounding hills.

During the summer months we also host Twilight Cremation services in our chapel until 6pm.  The Fee for this type of service is different and begins at $1,400.00 (GST Inc). Check with us for latest updates on this special service booking option.

There is no chapel service or attendance by family and friends. Your loved one is brought into our care by your appointed funeral director and the cremation takes place on-site by our experts promptly and privately.

  • Preparation of the cremated remains
  • A standard container for the cremated remains

  • Choose a memorial here at Glenmorus
  • Arrange in interment at another cemetery or memorial garden location

Our experienced arrangers are available to talk through the options and help you find something meaningful for you and your family.  To make an appointment please contact the Office.

Cremation Urns and Ashes

When taking cremated remains (ashes) home, they are returned at no additional cost in our standard cylinder container.

If you would prefer an alternative urn, we offer a wide selection of cremation urns and memorial keepsakes through our Arrangements and Administration Office at Glenmorus.

Our range includes:

  • Keepsake jewellery
  • Keepsake urns
  • Small, medium and full-size urns
  • Companion urns designed to hold the ashes of two family members together

With more than 100 urns and keepsakes available in a variety of sizes, colours and materials, there are options to suit a range of personal preferences and budgets.

All urns and keepsakes can be viewed in person at our office.  We welcome you to visit our office to view the range and discuss the options available with our arrangers, who can help you find something that is right for you and your family.

Memorialisation

A memorial is an enduring tribute to a person’s life. It provides comfort and support to families and friends as they reflect on the life that was, and a focal point for current and future generations to remember.

Our beautiful Memorial Gardens offer a serene environment in a tranquil natural setting nestled into the surrounding hills.

You can choose a resting place for you, your family and friends in dignified manicured gardens, beside tranquil waterways or in natural parkland areas.

You can make arrangements now -locked in at today's prices- for the future.

A shrub or tree located in an open area of the grounds. The ashes are placed into the bed at the base of the shrub or tree, with our bronze plaque and granite base positioned above.

Elegant structured raised garden beds comprising manicured Tom Thumb hedge surrounding artwork. The ashes are placed into the garden bed and the plaque is positioned on the raised edging.

The ashes are placed into a 'grave' overlooking the native bush gardens and the bronze plaque is set onto our special granite wedge system.

Native garden bush setting overlooking the natural water features. Where the ashes are placed into the garden with our unique bush gumnut edged bronze plaque set onto our existing natural rock markers.

Traditional memorial wall. The ashes are placed into a wall recess with our bronze plaque on the front of the wall.

Raised brick and granite feature. The ashes are safely placed in a locked enclosure with our bronze plaque on the surrounding structure.

Standard Rose Bush memorial. A Standard Rose has provision for four family interments. Ashes are interred into the soil in front of the rose, with our bronze plaque and granite base installed above. The Rose Garden comprises bush roses. Ashes are interred into the garden border secured with our bronze plaque.

Garden bed located at the highest point of our memorial gardens, overlooking the entire grounds with expansive views of the surrounding bushland. Ashes are interred into the soil with our bronze plaque and granite base installed above.

Coffin interment options

We have been providing this neat, elegant alternative to traditional monumental coffin burial since the 1950s. Indeed, Glenmorus Memorial Gardens and Crematorium was set up with lawn coffin burial very much at its core.

We have availability in our original coffin burial areas in this entry level price bracket. Each allotment has provision for multiple coffin interments and then cremations.

In some of our existing areas we have beam lawn coffin burial. This is where a supporting beam of reinforced all weather concrete can have our classic concrete markers or a range of granite markers to complement the standard bronze lawn plaque.

These allotments are scattered through the older areas. Provision for two coffin interments and two cremation interments

Section 12 Granite

This smaller intimate grouping of coffin burial allotments is set on the high side of the road. Taking in views of Albury to the east and views of the beautiful memorial parklands is a hall mark of this area. The type of memorial here uses our special granite wedge system that include bronze plaque options.

Each allotment has provision for two full sized bronze burial plaques, although our Designer range of bronze plaques are also useful here where two or more names can be included on the one larger sized bronze plaque. We can assist with the perfect size and layout for the bronze plaques in this area.

Section 12 Monument

Here we have the summit of the range of coffin burial allotments. Set at the highest part of the Glenmorus grounds a range of unique designs with our specific granite colours provide for over 110 different shape and colour combinations, and that doesn't include the various bronze plaques.

This area is close to our native bushland and takes in a commanding position overlooking the Glenmorus grounds. To help when visiting, this area has a convenient carpark as part of its layout.

Albury General Cemetery Monumental Coffin Burial

A selection of full monumental coffin burial allotments are available at the original Albury General Cemetery on Waugh Road in North Albury.

Here a traditional headstone, grave kerbing and ledger slab can be commission to best suit the life and memory of you or your loved ones. This option has provision for two coffin interments and then two cremation interments.

The following information is taken from the NSW Government website:

Funeral directors are not compulsory, but most people find that they can make things simpler and easier at what can be an emotional and sensitive time.  For that reason, funeral arrangements are usually made through your chosen funeral director, who will work with us at Glenmorus on your behalf to coordinate the required documents, and the service.  We take care of both the cremation and lawn burials here at Glenmorus.

A funeral director will usually organise:

  • completion and lodgement of death registration forms
  • placement of any press notices
  • a venue for the service
  • liaising with clergy or funeral celebrant
  • transport and care for the person who has died
  • the option to embalm and dress and view the person who has died
  • booking the time for cremation or burial funeral service
  • speaking at the funeral

Funeral directors do not need a licence, specific training or qualifications to operate. It can help to do your research and ask family or friends for recommendations.

If you would like to learn more about our chapel space, the crematorium, urns, memorial options or fees, please contact us. We're here to help.

Find a Memorial or Interment location

Find a Memorial or Interment location

Search our on-line records by first name or surname to locate a grave or memorial.

If you cannot find the record you are looking for, submit a Family History Information Request and our cemetery administration team will investigate on your behalf.

Historical Records

Interment records prior to 1951 are limited. Before this time, interments in the Albury General Cemetery were managed by separate religious trusts. When care, control and management for the cemetery transferred to Council, old interment records were not provided, meaning many pre-1951 interment records are currently unavailable.
