Half-price adoption fees to help Albury rescue pets find their forever homes

AlburyCity is partnering with Pedigree for the upcoming Mars World Global Adoption Weekend, with Pedigree covering half of each adoption fee for pets adopted from the Albury Animal Care Centre from Friday 2 to Monday 5 October.

The partnership is part of the annual event promoting pet adoption at participating centres worldwide, highlighting the benefits of pet ownership for both animals and humans, and encouraging more people to consider giving a rescue pet a second chance.

Animals arriving at the Albury Animal Care Centre include lost pets that can’t be reunited with their owners due to a lack of registration and microchipping, as well as those that have been surrendered or abandoned.

Animals receive routine health and behavioural checks to support adoption and meet-and-greet sessions help potential adopters determine compatibility with other pets or family members. All adopted pets are desexed and microchipped before leaving the Animal Care Centre.

Albury Mayor Kylie King said every rescue pet deserves the chance to experience the love, security and companionship that comes with a forever home.

“At Albury Animal Care Centre, we see first-hand the incredible transformation that happens when a pet is given a second chance. Watching animals grow in confidence, form bonds with their new families and become cherished companions is one of the most rewarding parts of our work.

“We encourage anyone who has been thinking about adopting a pet to come and visit us over the October long weekend. You might just meet a new best friend and give a deserving animal the loving home they’ve been waiting for.”

As part of World Global Adoption Day, Pedigree is also launching a new online Adoption Hub which offers prospective pet parents free, practical advice and expert guidance, from pre-adoption to when you bring a pet home in those early days.

Community members can view animals currently available for adoption on the Albury Animal Care Centre Facebook page.

To register interest, residents can submit an adoption request via the AlburyCity website or contact the centre on 02 6043 8530 to arrange a meet-and-greet session.
