'Quad Squad' checks footpaths

A team of specialists on quad bikes is combing Albury’s footpaths as part of a major maintenance review.

Fitted with front and rear cameras, the bikes are inspecting the paths for problems such as cracking, slippage and overhanging objects.

They’re collecting digital stills of every fault they find and video of the entire survey. All of the data collected is GPS-located.

The information will allow us to prioritise our footpath renewal and bay replacement programs.

The three bikes will inspect the city’s entire footpath network, which is about 260 kilometres of concrete, asphalt, pavers and gravel paths.

The inspections are expected to be completed by 9 August.
