Smart ideas

As part of our work to ensure Albury catches the technology wave of the future, we’re embarking on a series of ‘smart city’ improvements.

As part of our work to ensure Albury catches the technology wave of the future, we’re embarking on a series of ‘smart city’ improvements.

To enable our community to remain fully connected in changing times, we’ll conduct an investigation and trial of public WiFi around council-owned facilities, such as QEII Square.

Although some Wifi is currently available, improved services will help to meet the communications expectations of residents and visitors who require better network quality in our public spaces.

In a separate but similar project, we’ll also continue our trial of smart bins in the Albury CBD.

These bins monitor the amount of rubbish they contain and let us know when they’re ready to be emptied. In phase two of the trial, we’ll gain a better understanding of how to optimise the use of the technology and will have an opportunity to purchase more smart bins if the trial results are favourable.
