Mountain Bike Audit and Strategy Implementation

Improvements to the mountain bike track network on Nail Can Hill

About this project

Nail Can Hill is Albury's primary mountain bike destination. An audit on the marked trail network was undertaken in 2020 to guide improvements to the network. Funding was successfully through the NSW Government Crown Land Improvement Fund ($143,075) to implement the actions and improvements identified in the audit.

Improving the mountain bike trail network on Nail  Can Hill is an action identified in the Albury Mountain Bike Strategy which was endorsed by Council in September 2021.

The Biodiversity Assessment, Cultural Heritage Assessment and Review of Environmental Factors (REF) have been finalised and are being reviewed prior to endorsement. This will allow on ground works to commence. Council officers are working closely with the Albury Wodonga Mountain Bike Club (AWMTB) in planning on ground maintenance, trail upgrades and rationalisation works as per the Strategy.

Prior to commencing on-ground works a biodiversity assessment and cultural heritage due diligence process is required to be undertaken. Consultants have been engaged to complete these tasks.
