The project is part of a wider strategy to improve the economic performance and attractiveness of the Lavington CBD to create jobs, improve safety and reduce business vacancy rates.
Improving the streetscape and visual appeal along Mate Street will encourage shoppers to support local business and help to attract new businesses to the area.
The works are included in the current four year delivery program and were placed on public exhibition prior to their endorsement by Council.
Extensive community consultation has been undertaken with businesses directly affected advised of the upcoming works.
Consultation will continue throughout the construction process to minimise the impact on businesses and ensure everyone affected by the work is kept up to date on progress.
The works will be carried out by Excell Gray Bruni, with a target completion date of early November 2020.
