Horseshoe Lagoon Algae Management

We’re tackling the ongoing problem of blue-green algae infestations of Horseshoe Lagoon at West Albury.

We’re tackling the ongoing problem of blue-green algae infestations of Horseshoe Lagoon at West Albury.

The lagoon is a popular area with visitors, many of whom use the fishing jetty at the water’s edge, but algae outbreaks are common over six months of the year depending on the season.
It is also surrounded by the wonderful Yindyamarra Sculpture Walk, a showpiece for visitors and locals.

By establishing algae management practices and implementing control measures, we’ll be able to improve the water quality and reduce the health risk to the community.

It’s part of our long-term strategy to promote sustainable development that complements our natural environment.
