Emergency Management Centre Stage 2

We are leading an innovative and ambitious approach to regional emergency services management with the establishment of a multi-purpose co-ordination, response and training facility at the Albury Airport.

We are leading an innovative and ambitious approach to regional emergency services management with the establishment of a multi-purpose co-ordination, response and training facility at the Albury Airport.

We’ll engage an space planner/architect to work with partner agencies to design an extension to the Albury Regional Emergency Operations Centre located close to the airport.

The enlarged facility will provide new headquarters for local State Emergency Service (SES) units along with joint training facilities for the SES and other agencies, such as the Rural Fire Service and Volunteer Rescue Association.

It will also serve as an alternative NSP Police operational site and a Federal Police command centre in the event of a major emergency.

The completion of the AREMC Stage 2 will provide a series of operational buildings surrounding a central, multi-purpose core, storage sheds and car parking. The centre would include:

  • The headquarters for emergency response agencies such as the SES & RFS
  • The Albury Regional Operations Centre – this centre would be available for use in emergency management events by AlburyCity, Greater Hume Shire and surrounding local government areas as required
  • An alternative NSW Police operational site and a Federal Police command centre in the advent of a major incident, including airport security and response to terrorism related events
  • A state of the art training facility, which will be available for all emergency service groups to utilise
  • Communications equipment, including GIS mapping
  • Training theatrette including equipment
  • A commercial kitchen, toilets and conference meeting areas for community use
  • Car parking, and
  • Storage for vehicles and equipment.

The completion of the centre will help to protect our community from natural and man-made disasters by improving efficiencies and allowing emergency agencies to train and operate from a state-of-the-art centralised location.
