Albury Recycling Centre – New machinery

In our push to promote recycling, we are purchasing new machinery for the Albury Recycling Centre.

In our push to promote recycling, we are purchasing new machinery for the Albury Recycling Centre.

A cardboard compactor unit (50 tonne pressure capacity) for the Construction and Demolition Material Recovery Facility (CDMRF) will be purchased with installation planned for November 2021. This unit will be used to collect and bale cardboard and will be located within the MRF facility.

We will also purchase a replacement hook truck to work within all areas of the Albury Waste Management Centre, specifically to transfer 30 cubic metre skip bins for internal and external movements.

The current piece of plant performing this work has proved to be inadequate and has been non-operational for large periods of time, with a high rate of repair work needed to keep it in working order.

The new hook truck will move skips around the site to transfer material in readiness for transport off site. The truck will also be used to transport product to local recyclers.

The purchase of a concrete crushing unit that will form part of the operational activities within the Material Recovery Facility will commence mid-2021. This equipment will enable most of our concrete and brick products to be crushed on-site on an ongoing basis. Currently the material is stockpiled at the Albury Waste Management Facility and a contractor is engaged twice yearly to process it.

Purchasing a machine that can cater for the majority of the concrete product will provide financial efficiencies, reduced contamination and make for easier management of the product.
