History - The park is named in recognition of Captain James Cook's first voyage ship HMB Endeavour (1768 - 1771). Some of the surround streets are named to recognise crew from that voyage (Captain Cook Drive, Banks Street, Hicks, Solander while Kurnell Peninsula (Inscription Point) is where Captain Cook landed for the first time on Australian soil in 1770.
