Swift Street Pedestrian Refuge

In response to some concerns raised about these proposed works, we're holding an information session at our Kiewa Street offices in the Robert Brown Room – Ground Floor, on Wednesday 12 June from 5:30PM. All businesses in the affected area as well as broader community members are invited to attend.

Active Transport funding has been received to complete a number of pedestrian and cycle improvement projects across the city.

The construction of a pedestrian refuge on Swift Street was chosen because of heavy use of the area by pedestrians throughout the day, with busy times occurring during events at the Albury Entertainment Centre.

The construction of the refuge will see the loss of seven on-street parking spaces in order to achieve the required sight lines for pedestrians and motorists.

What’s happening and when?

The pedestrian refuge will be constructed on Swift Street adjacent to the Albury Entertainment Centre from Monday 4 June and will take two weeks to complete.

Why are these works important?

The refuge will improve pedestrian safety on the busy walking route from the all-day multi-deck car park in Wilson Street to the CBD.

How will these works affect me?

The works will result in the loss of seven on-street car spaces, decreasing the availability of timed parking in the area.
