National Foresters Grove - District Play Space
Construction is complete and the play space is now open to the public
Official Opening: Sunday 2 June 2019 at 11 am
AlburyCity has secured $998,000 through the Stronger Country Communities Fund. $300,000 of this funding is allocated to the construction of the National Foresters Grove District Play Space. An additional $50,000 of Council funds has been allocated to the project (total budget $350,000)
The scope of project scope includes:
- Demolition of existing playground, fitness area and old BBQ
- Installation of new playground including a flying fox, large play unit and other items
- Installation of skate and scooter elements
- Basketball area
- Installation of new fitness area
- Replacement of BBQ with a DDA compliant unit
- Upgrading and constructing new pathways
- Installation of shade
- Drinking fountain

Planting and landscape works continues this week. The wall element of the Lions Club Reflection Area is now complete and plaques to be installed prior to the park opening on Sunday 2 June.
10 May 2019
Works continues on the Lions Club Reflection Area with the footings completed and boxing for the wall commenced. The exercise equipment, and light pole were also installed while the planting has commenced.
3 May 2019
Works around the major play elements are almost complete. Work continues this week on the exercise area and linking pathways while the pathway and excavation for the Lions Club Reflection area is underway.

The timber totems poles were also installed this week adjacent to the main equipment.while work continued around the fly fox area.
12 April 2019
More concrete paths were installed this week as well as spreading of softfall mulch, erection of the basketball ring and preparation works for the exercise equipment.

Softfall mulch has been installed this week under most of the play equipment this week

Only minor set out work occurred this week for the fitness equipment and associated pathway. Contractors scheduled to spread softfall mulch under the play equipment next week.

Soil, rocks and softfall mulch have been stockpiled ready to using in the play space area next week

Play space levels have been finalised. Concrete pathway and edging works continues adjacent to the main play area.
15 February 2019
The concrete has been laid for the outdoor basketball area and skate and scooter elements. The posts for the flying fox have been installed and earth ramp constructed to the start.
8 February 2019
Preparation continues to the concrete area for the basketball area and skate and scooter elements. The two net structures have been erected while the footings for the flying fox have been installed.

This week the levels were set for the site and preparation of the concrete basketball area . The concrete walls adjacent to the picnic shelter were also install.
25 January 2019
The construction site has been expanded with clearing of the remainder of the site and fill imported and compacted fin preparation for the concrete area. Footings for the flying fox have also commenced.

Works have recommenced after the Christmas break with the demolition of the old exercise equipment and expansion of the temporary fenced area

Shade sails have been attached to the poles and accessible barbecue installed. Works will recommence in the new year.

Swing and spring rocker has been installed this week as well as the preparation of barbecue area

The poles for the shade sail have been erected this week with the swing and spring rocker to be installed next week.

Works commenced this week on the construction of the district play space. The first section will include site levelling, installation of play equipment, shade an upgraded BBQ under the existing shelter.
