Creek Protection Works

We’re tackling a serious erosion problem that’s threatening the mouth of the Bungambrawartha Creek, where it enters the Murray River near the Albury Swim Centre.

In recent years, heavy rainfall events have caused significant amounts of earth to be washed away around a small weir at the end of the creek.

If the problem is not addressed, future rain and storm could cause extensive damage to the creek banks and surrounding vegetation.

We’re now preparing designs for a rock fall structure that will effectively channel heavy outflows into the river without causing erosion of the stream banks.

The structure will be under-laid with geofrabric to create a more natural effect and improve the area’s visual appeal.

Consultants are now working on the design and the works will progress during the course of the financial year.
