Proposed new Albury Skate Park
Welcome to the future of skating and outdoor fun in Albury. You gave us some awesome ideas for what you wanted in a new Albury Skate Park. The draft concept designs are now on public exhibition and we're seeking final comments from the community.
In July 2018, AlburyCity endorsed the Albury Skate and BMX Strategy to guide the development of Skate and BMX facilities across the city.
The first project from the strategy is to complete concept designs for the redevelopment of the Albury Skate Park into a Regional Skate facility. Using feedback from the Have A Say process, we've been working with skate park design specialists, PLAYCE, and a working group consisting of local skate and BMX community members to create a concept design for an iconic skate park that will put Albury on the map as a destination for skate and BMX riders from far and wide.
Some of the key community feedback elements included in the concept design are:
- a return to “the street style” where skating began
- areas that cater from beginner to advanced and allow riders to progress and improve
- separate areas so riders can spread across the park
- a variety of activities to cater for the whole family
- built shade, seating and access to drinking stations.
The Draft Albury Regional Skate Park Concept Plans were endorsed by Council on Monday 17 December 2018 and are now on public exhibition.
