Exempt tree species

These species may be exempt from requiring a Vegetation Removal Permit. Other approvals and restrictions may still apply because of the property’s location, heritage status, development controls or environmental significance.

Check before removing vegetation

An exemption from a Vegetation Removal Permit does not override heritage, development, environmental or biosecurity requirements.

Contact AlburyCity before removing vegetation if:

  • the property is heritage listed or in a heritage conservation area
  • the vegetation is listed on the Significant Tree Register
  • the vegetation is near the Murray River
  • the work is associated with development
  • the vegetation may provide native wildlife habitat
  • you are unsure of the species.
