Murray is a long-term resident of the Border area, having grown up locally and attended local primary and secondary schools.
He had a very sporting background and was a very proficient Australian rules footballer, cricketer and tennis player.
Murray joined the Victoria police force in 1982 and served for 17 years in metropolitan Melbourne and country Victoria. He is the recipient of the Victoria Police ethical and diligence service medal, with a 15-year clasp recognising his service, and he also received a National Medal from Victoria Police.
After leaving the police force Murray started his own small business.
His passion and desire to advocate for small and micro business and the important part they play in a community drove him to stand for Council.
He is also very focused on the development of tourism on the Border.
