How to register you swimming pool

There are 2 ways to register a pool:

1. Online at the NSW Swimming Pool Register Website, or

2. By visiting Councils Customer Service team.

Information to be provided to complete the registration includes:

  • Property address
  • Property type (private residence, multi-occupancy, tourist or visitor accommodation)
  • Is the property on a waterfront
  • Is the property greater than 2 hectares
  • Type of pool (above ground, in-ground, inflatable, spa)
  • Approximate construction date of the poo
  • If the pool barrier has been substantially modified or rebuilt and the date this occurred

Obligations in relation to swimming pool ownership:  

  • Register the pool or spa on the NSW Swimming Pool Register Website. Non-registration can result in a fine of $220
  • Ensure that the pool complies with the prescribed standards in regard to the swimming pool barrier and it’s maintenance
  • Ensure that young children are adequately supervised at all times
  • When selling or leasing a property ensure that a valid Swimming Pool Certificate of Compliance or Occupation Certificate is obtained.
