Oddies Creek Park Adventure Playspace
AlburyCity's vision to create a stunning southern gateway and to re-connect the city with the Murray River will begin to take shape over the next few months with the upgrading and transformation of Albury's riverside parks.
The centrepiece will be a $500,000 children's adventure playspace at Oddies Creek Park.
Renowned Landscape Architect Mary Jeavons and Associates drew inspiration from the surrounding riverine environment and history of the area to develop concept designs for the playspace.
Features include the planting of trees and shrubs to create tunnels and a natural cubby space, a small amphitheatre for creative play, a large climbing net, an observation deck, ramps and stairs and a giant flying fox.
The playground is designed for children from babies to teenagers with features to stimulate physical, social and imaginative play experiences.
Fully landscaped, the area will have a strong focus on accessibility with pathways linking throughout the site and to the Murray River Trail.
Its anticipated the playspace will become a major drawcard for travellers, visitors and local families.
It will be one of the first features that people see as they cross the southern border into Albury and I can see it being a wonderful destination and tourist attraction.
