Why does Council charge rates?
AlburyCity provides a diverse range of services, facilities, programs, and events to enrich the lives of all residents.
We manage and maintaining vital infrastructure such as local roads and footpaths and provide the community with fantastic facilities such as the LibraryMuseum.
Council also provides and maintains the sports stadium, sporting grounds, childcare centres, parks and playgrounds and street lighting. .
One of the ways in which Council funds these services is through its statutory power to charge municipal rates.
Rates account for the largest portion of Council's revenue raising capabilities. Fees and charges, and grants from Federal and State governments make up the balance.
