A Healthy Lifestyle
Reset Your Life is a FREE lifestyle modification program targeting people aged between 40-49 years at high risk of developing type 2 diabetes. The group program helps participants make lifestyle changes that will ultimately prevent or delay the onset of type 2 diabetes.
"At high risk" of developing type 2 diabetes is determined following the person's completion of the Australian Type 2 Diabetes Risk Assessment tool (653KB) (AUSDRISK) and a score of 12. This tool measures type 2 diabetes risk factors which include a family history of diabetes, high blood glucose levels, high blood pressure, smoking, unhealthy diet, less than 2.5 hours of physical activity per week and/or a waist measurement of >90cm for women and >100cm for men.
Reset Your Life involves 7 sessions of 1˝ - 2 hour duration which cover:
- Type 2 diabetes; including prevention, risk factors, how it is diagnosed and treated
- Healthy eating
- Physical activity
- How to make healthy lifestyle choices
- Setting goals to improve your health
- Stress management
To register for this program participants must be aged between 40 and 49 years, score 12 or more on the AUSDRISK tool and visit their GP for a blood glucose test and to receive a referral to participate in the program.
** those 50 years and over can participate in a similar program called Life! Taking action on Diabetes. This program is run by Health and Fitness Plus in Albury, T: 02 6045 8191.
