How one woman and Jerry Lee Lewis changed Rock 'n' Roll Debra Byrne stars in Last Man Standing; a Gospel Rock Opera Concert featuring two hours of hit songs and fun, telling the story of the birth of Rock 'n' Roll and its origins in the gospel music of the Deep South.
Byrne, who has just completed a tour with Disney's Mary Poppins, has had a prolific career on stage and screen including starring roles in Cats, Les Misérables and Sunset Boulevard.
In Last Man Standing she performs the Gospel songs that morphed into Rock 'n' Roll music, including hits from Sister Rosetta Tharpe, Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash and in particular, Jerry Lee Lewis - the "last man standing" of this talented group of musicians to come out of Memphis in the '60s.
Playing and singing the Jerry Lee Lewis favourites - including Great Balls of Fire and Whole Lotta Shakin' Goin' On - is internationally renowned pianist, Dannie Bourne, accomplished guitarist and singer Nick Barker and from the Austin City Players, Mark Elton, Rod Gilbert and Simon Burke. Also among the 26 hit songs featured, are songs made famous by Ray Charles, Patsy Cline and Otis Redding.
