Your recycling bin is the 240 litre bin with the yellow lid and is collected fortnightly.
What material CAN I place in my recycle bin?
Recyclable plastic containers are identified with a symbol normally located at the bottom of the container. You may now include plastic containers with the 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7 recycling symbols to your recycling bin.
- Glass bottles and jars
- Milk and juice cartons (Liquid paperboard)
- Steel and aluminum cans
- Newspaper, magazines, mixed paper and cardboard
What material can I NOT place in my recycle bin?
- Plastic bags
- Compostable material (lawn clippings, vegetable scraps, weeds, leaves etc.)
- Polystyrene
- Car batteries
- Engine oil
- Scrap steel
- Clothing and old toys
What happens to the recyclables after they have left my bin?
After your recycling has been collected it is transported to the Transpacific materials recovery facility (MRF) in Wodonga, where it is processed and recyclable materials are separated from any contaminants.
THE PLASTIC BAGS SUPPLIED FROM THE SUPERMARKET CHECKOUT CANNOT BE PLACED IN THE RECYCLE BIN.
Do not fill plastic bags with recyclables and put it in the recycle bin.
If your bin is exceeding 80 kilograms in weight it will NOT be collected.
