A touring exhibition

In 2009 Catherine O'Donnell was awarded the Albury Art Prize to travel to Venice to complete a residency at Scuola International di Grafica (Venice, Italy) with the aim of creating an exhibition of work exploring the architecture, culture and history of the everyday Venice.

Rather than focussing on the common and iconic sights in Venice Catherine studied the city landscape, the back alley ways and street areas the parts of the city hidden from the traveller.

This exhibition will combine Catherine's interest in light and shadow, geometry, the everyday and commonly overlooked urban environment. This exhibition presents a suite of large-scale charcoal drawings of the Venetian city landscape through which she prompts the building to tell stories for themselves.
