Lavington Library workshops delayed one week

Published Wednesday 21 October

Community workshops on the proposed relocation of Lavington Library to Albury Central Tower will now be held on Wednesday 18 November.

The workshops were originally planned for Wednesday 11 November, however this is Remembrance Day.

AlburyCity Director of Planning and Economic Development, Michael Keys, apologised for any inconvenience caused by the date change.

"We want to ensure that as many people as possible have the opportunity to attend these workshops and have their say on Lavington Library's future," he said.

"Out of respect for those who have died or suffered in wars or armed conflicts, and those wishing to pay tribute to them, we felt it important to ensure the workshops were not held on Remembrance Day."

The workshops, which mark the start of a community consultation process, will still be held at Mirambeena Community Centre (2.00pm-4.00pm and 6.00pm-8.00pm).

A final decision on whether to relocate Lavington Library will not be made until after the community consultation process, which also includes a survey and a community forum. The forum, Monday 7 December, will ensure community members have the opportunity to present their views directly to Councillors.
