Published Tuesday 20 October
AlburyCity Council has approved - in principle - the relocation of Lavington Library to the Albury Central Tower, subject to the sale of the existing library site at market valuation.
As a decision made in principle, this does not commit Council to going ahead with the relocation.
A final decision on whether to relocate Lavington Library will not be made until after a community consultation process, set to start next month.
Council committed to undertake community consultation on the draft concept plan proposed for the Lavington Library.
Consultation will also cover the proposal to include a new AlburyCity customer service facility within the Library, designed to increase the opportunity for ratepayers and community members to access Council services and have face-to-face contact with customer service officers.
Updated 21 October: Community workshops on the proposed relocation of Lavington Library to Albury Central Tower will now be held on Wednesday 18 November. The workshops were originally planned for Wednesday 11 November, however this is Remembrance Day.
Residents will also have the opportunity to express their views through a written survey, which will also be available on-line.
In addition, community members will have the opportunity to present their views directly to Councillors at a community forum on Monday 7 December.
Meanwhile, Council also approved a recommendation to retain the existing Lavington Library stained glass windows for placement in a new library and customer service facility.
