Children visiting the LibraryMuseum can test-drive a handmade rocket ship, establishing for certain that an imagination can take you to the moon.
The rocket ship features as part of AlburyCity's 'Out of This World' play spaces, designed to celebrate Children's Week.
Inspired by the International Year of Astronomy, Council staff who work with children, and at the LibraryMuseum and Art Gallery have created an imaginative play spaces from objects that can be found at home, illustrating that there are appealing alternatives to buying expensive plastic toys.
While the play space targets children up to the age of six, it is designed to encourage families to play together.
Aside from rocket ships, it includes a swirling galaxy and glowing planets that hang from the ceiling, a space in which to explore shadows and reflections, a construction space with blocks and tubes, space costumes and a creative craft space.
About 2,500 children are expected to visit the play space over the next two weeks.
