Albury residents who are passionate about their city and are concerned about its future have an important job to do.
They're encouraged to contribute to a project called Shaping Albury, which will guide high-level decision making as Albury moves towards the year 2030.
AlburyCity Mayor, Patricia Gould, said all of Councils' work is underpinned by a strategic community plan - Towards Albury 2030 - which was written in 2004. Shaping Albury is about making sure this document is still on target.
"It's time to do a health check on that important plan for our future, because a lot has happened in the past five years. We need to make sure that the document guiding our work captures exactly what Albury people want for their city in the future."
From 4 August to 1 September, a series of workshops will enable residents to brainstorm ideas on issues as diverse as climate change, local medical services, education and recreational opportunities for all ages.
Cr Gould said it was crucial that local people get involved.
"We live in a truly wonderful city and we must not take that for granted," Cr Gould said.
"I encourage everyone who values Albury to come along and do their bit and have their say. We need to make sure the plan for Albury's future really does capture what the people living here want."
