No move to Stage 4 restrictions

AlburyCity has not imposed Stage 4 water restrictions.

Council has not received any formal correspondence from the NSW Department of Water and Energy, requesting that Council adopt Stage 4 restrictions.

AlburyCity Mayor, Patricia Gould, said if and when the request was made, the matter would be referred to the next meeting of Council.

"Council will then decide what stance to take on this matter," Cr Gould said.

"At this stage, no decision has been made to go to Stage 4."

"Albury residents have to date been extremely responsible in their use of water. We as a community are treating it carefully and understand that it is a precious resource. We are only using 59% of our water allocation at the present time."

She said there were striking anomalies in the way NSW and Victorian Governments were approaching water restrictions.

"It is quite farcical that water restrictions are so different on either side of the border," Cr Gould said.
