In conjunction with the 2009 Albury Art Prize, the Susan Moorhead Memorial Award showcases emerging regional artists.

Established in memory of artist Susan Moorhead (1947 - 1990) this award serves to honour her commitment to art and her delight in the achievement and humanity of others. During her short but distinguished professional life Susan was an art teacher, exhibiting artist, designer, sculptor and master craftsperson.

The judge for this year's award, Dr Gene Sherman, will announce the winner at the opening of the exhibition of short-listed entrants at 6pm Friday 17 July.

Dr Gene Sherman is Chairman and Executive Director of Sherman Contemporary Art Foundation (SCAF), a Sherman family philanthropic enterprise dedicated to the public exhibition of significant contemporary art from Australia and the Asia-Pacific region.

The Susan Moorhead Memorial Award is held every two years and is administered by the Friends of Albury Art Gallery.

The exhibition will continue until Sunday 13 September 2009.
