Youth Albury has just been announced and it’s absolutely jam-packed with cool stuff to do.
There are events across the city at the Art Gallery, Hayden Park, Lavington Library, LibraryMuseum, Performing Arts Centre, The Retro Youth Café and the Wood Fired Oven.
Youth Albury kicks off at the Retro Youth Café on 4 April with opening night entertainment from dolly rockers, Ms Ann Thropik and The Wrath, along with the launch at the Art Gallery of 'Crime Scene – The Sequel,' a photographic exhibition on crime scenes by young local photographers.
Don’t miss the opening of two youth-focussed exhibitions at the Art Gallery with a street performance by local youth that will be filmed and incorporated into ‘Proof of Age: Youth Culture and Identity’. Also the Retro Youth Café are having opening night entertainment and a dress up competition as part of ‘Crime Scene – the Sequel’ a photography exhibition by local young people.
The program also features informative workshops such as multimedia and art on 14 April and Healthy Body Art on 16 April. Both will be held from 12.00noon to 4.00pm at the Retro Youth Café. Participants must register by calling (02) 60 218 208.
The festivities finish on Friday 18 April with a feast of local bands playing a Youth Albury wrap-up gig at the Café. So support your local music scene and see some young rockers for free.

Friday 4 April
Youth and Safe Driving info session and Bands.
As part of Law Week, the Retro Youth Café is providing a combined night of information and entertainment with the Community Legal Service, RTA, NRMA and our neighbour, the Art Gallery. Come see a car crime scene in the Art Gallery and find out about how you can not end up in one. Free talks and displays, information for getting your drivers licence, learning how to drive and your rights.

Saturday 5 April
Youth Markets and Lunch at the Retro Youth Cafe!
Come down and listen to live and local bands, pick up some merchandise, check out youth stalls, sell your clothes, buy new ones and grab a sausage! There will also be information stalls on all events happening in Youth Albury and the school holidays for the Albury Wodonga region so stop by and see what’s happening for young people in April.

Wednesday 9 April
The 7 Stages of Grieving: Sydney Theatre Company by Wesley Enoch & Deborah Mailman.
Integrating traditional and contemporary forms of storytelling this production takes audiences on an emotional journey through love, anger and loss. Told with humour and sensitivity it is a strong reminder of peoples' strength, compassion and will to survive.

Snap: Capturing Gen Y: LibraryMuseum at 6.00pm.
Each generation is remembered for their clothes and "look." Students from James Fallon High School have taken a photographic snapshot of their generation outside of school grounds. Come and have a look at what is "in" at the moment and how we will remember the class of 2008.

'Proof of Age' shows what artists have to say about growing up in the 21st century: Works by Bill Henson, Tracey Moffatt, Karen Cornelius (Canada), Stewart MacFarlane and Peter Churcher. See how they explore youth culture, issues, attitudes and style.
Crime Scene: The Sequel
The crime has taken place and young local photographers have investigated the space as both documenter and subject. Different styles of photography are explored from forensic investigation through to the exaggeration and hype of the paparazzi. Opening night entertainment and a dress up competition at the Retro Youth Café as part of the Art Gallery launch of its new exhibitions. With competition for best dressed zombie, ghost, ghoul, car crash victim, dead dolly or living dead doll.
Come see the finest of dolly rockers: Mz Ann Thropik as well as The Wrath and Chair Like Issues playing at the Retro Youth Café.
There will be a forum on the night where you have the chance to talk to Mz Ann and the boys from the Wrath about the importance of art and music in their lives and as a tool for people to express themselves and keep them safe from harm. 7:30 – 10:30pm All Ages. Free event.

Youth Albury Youthbake:
We are handing over the oven to Albury’s youth to cook up a storm. Live music will bring the place to life. If there are any teenagers in your family make sure they come down to the oven. Extreme Surfaces: Skateboard Art Workshop.
