Australia Day Celebrations

On 26 January we invite you to reflect on being Australian, celebrate contemporary Australia and recognise our history at the Albury Australia Day Celebrations.
The 2018 Australia Day Program will be held on the foreshore of the Murray River at Noreuil Park, Albury. Proceedings will start with a flag raising ceremony followed by a Welcome to Country, the Australian Citizenship and affirmation ceremony and announcement of the Albury Awards 2018. There'll be plenty of fun activities for the children along with live music and the annual First Nations Border Challenge Touch Football Match.

Flag Raising Ceremony
Witness the official flag raising ceremony by the Defence Force. Join in the National Anthem sung by Anna Leeworthy led by the Albury City Band.
Welcome to Country
Local Wiradjuri Elder, Nancy Rooke, will perform ‘Welcome to Country’ welcoming us onto Wiradjuri country.
XVIII Australian Deaf Games
Welcome athletes of the Australian Deaf Games and special presentation by Alex Jones, President of the Deaf Games Organising Committee.
Australian Citizenship and Affirmation Ceremony
Australian Citizenship and Affirmation Ceremony Presiding Officer, Mayor, Cr Kevin Mack will formally welcome those who are making a solemn commitment to Australia as our newest citizens. Members of the public will also have an opportunity to affirm their loyalty and commitment to Australia and its people by reciting an affirmation that is based on the Australian citizenship pledge.

First Nations Border Challenge Touch Football Challenge
NSW Police Force / ATSI Youth vs VIC Police/ Aboriginal Youth (inclusive of Torres Strait Islanders) will hold its annual First Nations Border Challenge - Rounders and Touch Football from 1.00pm to 3.30pm at Noreuil Oval, Albury.
