The unique beauty of Australia’s native flora and fauna has long inspired artists and designers. This small display in the library area of the LibraryMuseum includes early natural history drawings by James Sowerby and colonial artist John Lewin, the more decorative interpretations of French artist Lucien Henry and costume designer Thelma Afford, and illustrations by Dorothy Wall and Norman Lindsay which reflect a society beginning to define its cultural identity through native fauna.
